This book offers an in-depth analysis of the challenges that the water resources development in Bangladesh faces in the context of climate change and outlines a framework of solutions to overcome the challenges. The content in the book reveals the shortcomings of the past policies and practices in water resources development sectors and lays out a guideline for achieving sustainable development in all sectors pertinent to water resources. This book outlines the strategies and policy changes necessary for reformulation of the proposed Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 (BDP2100). The proposed pathways to sustainable development of water and sediment resources are based on a deep understanding of the natural and geologic processes that act as driving forces in the delta building process. The author argues in favour ecological approach to water resources planning and management, which discourages unnecessary structural interventions to natural functioning of rivers, floodplain and delta building processes.
