Paradigms of Conflict Resolution in South Asia

If the post-Cold War era was marked by rethinking or deconstruction of discourses in social sciences including International Relations theory, September 11, it may be argued, brought in discontinuity in many of the discourses. We are at the moment passing through a period of flux and reflexivity. Building paradigms of conflict resolution in such a milieu poses some formidable challenges. The demise of the Cold War witnessed a blurring of the interface between inter-state and intra-state conflicts. Borders became porous and sub national groups could coalesce, and conflict across borders is posing greater challenges to the traditional security apparatus.
